Without mutual benefit this association cannot thrive or even exist.
Over the past couple of years we have experimented with the Novice Class. Originally, it was a #2 class only.
The Class numbers were low.
Then we tried a Draw #2 class, the Class numbers were still low.
Then we added the option of allowing a #1 rider to ride with a higher number rider in the Novice class. The
higher rated rider could not enter the herd. This served 2 purposes.
It allowed the beginning riders the chance to ride with someone more experienced, and actually receive one-on-
one instruction while doing so…and it got the Class numbers up in the Novice Class.
But, it became apparent that the NOVICE Class was really not a Novice Class any longer, especially at the
Finals. We received plenty of comments and suggestions. We have listened to all. Many Novices STILL want to
ride with a Higher rated rider. Many just see a need for their own class.
Easy solution, especially with the higher number of Novice Class entries that we are experiencing at Polar Bluff
so far this year.
The old “NOVICE” Class will be renamed to a “1 PLUS” Class, where the #1 rider can still ride with a higher
number rider under our present rules. Only the #1 rider can enter the herd.
WE WILL ADD A #2 CLASS, 2 - #1 RIDERS! Naturally, we will still keep the #8, #6, #4 Classes. The
addition of an class should give more riders a chance to ride, and with more arenas using a 2 pen system, should
not slow things up. The class "ORDER" will be left to the promoter to run they way they deem necessary.
Year ends awards are still based on the standings of each individual’s performance, and not class standings.
We truly welcome your comments, especially those by email, as those are sure to reach us, and you have the
assurance that they will be read.
Thanks for your comments and participation. Especially thanks to Butch Wade for his alway constructive
comments.
One last word on ratings, the dollar guidelines are dollars won in ALL associations and all Cattle related events.
Please be fair to your fellow competitors. Also, dollars won at last years Finals do count and may affect your
rating for the 2008 Season.
As you know, attendance at 5 MOTSA sanctioned shows is necessary to attend the Finals. In an effort to make more shows available to
those wanting to attend the finals, the AQHA double point shows at Sedalia will be MOTSA co-sanctioned. Along with the following
MOTSA show on Sunday at Sedalia, there will be 3 possible shows available on that weekend. And as usual, on the Finals
weekend, the AQHA sortings prior the the Finals on Saturday will also be MOTSA co-sanctioned.
McNail's Arena and Lost Spur Ranch will also be offering more sortings in August & September so there will be plenty of shows left to
become eligible for the Finals.
Remember that you need to fill out the Participation form and pay the fee for your sortings and earnings to count for year end
awards.
